Little Kawaii Workshop (Roxy Ryder)

The culture of cuteness in Japan is storming through the tattoo world. Kawaii tattoos seem to be getting more and more popular, and I love it. Instagram is full to the brim of cute animals, bright colours and food with faces.

A while ago, I discovered an artist called Roxy Ryder. When I found her, she originally worked in my hometown and Manchester and I HAD to get booked in with her. Just before my appointment, she moved into her own studio and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

The Little Kawaii Workshop is unlike any studio I have ever been in before. The walls are bright pink, the walls are covered in amazing artwork and there are fluffy cushions everywhere. It honestly is Kawaii heaven. Did I also mention there’s sweets and drinks?! Could it get any better?

So my first tattoo by Roxy was a cute lil cactus! This was my first coloured tattoo and oh maaaaan did it hurt. But, so damn worth it. Even months and months on, the colours are still so vibrant. Since having the cactus, I have had 2 other artists work on my leg and both of them instantly recognised that it was Roxy’s work! Last week, as a birthday gift from my fiancée, I finally went back to the brightest studio on Earth and got a couple more super cute tattoos for my collection.

Whilst at the studio, I felt so at home and comfortable. We chatted about tattooing, Netflix shows, drag queens and everything in-between. I had a glass bottle of coke. Yes, a glass bottle. It felt so vintage!! And I ate a lot of haribos. It was fabulous. Oh, I also met a baby sausage dog. My life dream came true!

The studio itself is pretty small inside an art gallery. As you walk down the corridor, you cannot miss Studio 19. Pineapple bunting and the cutest homemade sign in watermelon font lead you into the Little Kawaii Workshop. Walking in, you discover all things cute. All the amazing inks are lined up on shelves, with cuddly toys, plants in adorable pots and character figurines everywhere.  On the walls and door are some awesome stickers, as well as Roxy’s designs and some other fantastic framed artwork too. It is a creative and happiness haven.

If you are able to get to Altrincham, you NEED to get booked in with Roxy and give the Little Kawaii Workshop a visit for yourself. I will one hundred million percent be going back!
