CULT MOVIE TATTOOS

Are you really part of the movie cult world unless you’ve made it permanent?

Movie tattoos over the years have become increasingly popular, and undoubtedly way better in style and designs. From dark black work, to cute and colourful. Pretty much every single classic cult movie has a crowd of tattooed fans behind it showing their love with their amazing movie ink.

100% one of the most popular cult movies ever has to be Pulp Fiction. It’s also the movie that a whole lot of people have tattooed on them. We’ve all seen the iconic tattoos of Mia and Vincent in the twist dance competition. Classic. I love the simplicity of these tattoos. And if you haven’t seen the movie, you NEED to watch it. Like, now!

Another absolute legend of a movie is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I remember watching this year’s ago and wondering what the hell was going on! Now, I just feel it is a part of the crazy art world culture. I have seen some absolutely incredible portraits of Dr Frank-N-Furter. I mean, who wouldn’t want this marvellous creature on the night on their bodies?! As well as the portraits, I found a lot of ‘Don’t Dream It, Be It’ quotes which I love. Even if you haven’t seen the movie, this is an excellent quote to live by.

I am also obsessed with the pin-up drag style tattoos emerging with references to this movie. They look so good in loads of bold colours.

Was anyone else a little under-whelmed by Taxi Driver? Don’t judge me now, but I think I must have built it up too much in my head after hearing how amazing it was. Then, when it came to watching it, I just don’t think it was that interesting or exciting. Sorry not sorry.

Anyway, clearly lots of people do love it because there are also a lot of Taxi Driver cult tattoos out there too. Some absolutely astonishing black and white portraits, wow!

I feel like most cult movies are a little dark and have slight ‘physcological’ twists and turns. Not surprising with the amazing directors of the 3 examples. I mean, Tarantino is probably the most controversial movie genius ever! Jim Sharman is epic and Martin Scorsese is a legend.

These cult classics all have extremely passionate and dedicated fans and it’s understandable that they want to show their love in ink. Do you have a favourite movie, and would you ever consider getting a tattoo of it?
